RM7.0 MILLION DIVIDEND TO THE STATE GOVERNMENT FROM SEC

YAB Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman commended Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (SEC) for its continued good financial performance.

SEC declared a gross of dividend of RM7.0 Million to the State Government for financial year 2007.

This is the seventh straight year that SEC has declared dividends to its shareholders with the total gross dividends paid over the years amounting to RM43 Million.

The Chief Minister was confident that SEC would continue to do well based on its current management practices and investments in sound projects.

For the financial year 2007, SEC and its group of companies are expected to achieve a group profit of about RM43 million. This quantum is RM8 million higher than that achieved for 2006 and is the highest achieved in its history.

Apart from better returns from its core activities at operating level, SEC’s investments in its joint ventures have also contributed positively to last year’s results. In addition, Asian Supply Base Sdn. Bhd. (ASB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SEC which provides services to the oil and gas industry has also contributed significantly to the group.

The event was officiated by our Chief Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj. Aman at the auditorium of Ministry of Resource Development and Information Technology.

SEC participated in the said event and provided the following information to the general public :-

(a) career counselling and prospect in the gas industries;
(b) information relating to gas industries;

(c) information for career path and advancement in
the gas industries;
(d) information on other opportunities available in the
gas industries.

Majlis Penyerahan Kuih-Muih Raya Aidilfitri - 27th September 2007

SEC participated in a symbolic yearly event in the month of Ramadhan by giving away Hari Raya cookies to Police, Army, Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) and Wilayah Laut Sabah & Sarawak forces.


The said event was organised by the State Secretary’s office headed by YBhg. Datuk Maznah Hj Ghani and various Associations and Non-Government Organisations.


SEC presented 6,000 pieces of three varieties of hari raya cookies.

Blood Donation - 20th July 2007

In line with SEC’s aspiration to create a caring corporate citizen, a blood donation drive was organised by Kelab Sukan Rekreasi, SEC. The event was jointly participated by more than 50 donors from Ministry of Resource Development & IT, Monfort Youth, Jabatan Pembangunan Sumber Manusia, BP Aluminium, Sabico Sdn Bhd. and SEC’s associate companies amongst others.

Also present at the occasion were SEC’s Minister-In-Charge, YB Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai, Director of JPSM, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Resource Development & IT and CEO of SEC, Puan Margaret Fung.

 

RM7.0 MILLION TO THE STATE GOVERNMENT FROM SEC
Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (SEC) declared a gross dividend of RM7.0 million to the State Government for the financial year ending 31st December 2006 as compared to RM5.0 million for 2005.

For the year 2006, the SEC Group of companies is expected to achieve a group pre-tax Profit of about RM34.5 million as compared to RM24.2 million for 2005.

Apart from better income from its core activities at the operating level, SEC's investments in its joint ventures are expected to yield higher overall returns for 2006. In addition, Asian Supply Base Sdn. Bhd. (ASB),  a wholly owned subsidiary which provides services to the oil and gas industry has contributed significantly to the Group profits.  ASB's better performance has contributed to the ability of the SEC Group to return higher dividends to the State Government .

SEC 2ND ANNUAL LUNCHEON

SEC had its 2nd Annual Lunch 2006 at the Ocean Seafood Village,Kota Kinabalu on the 14th September 2006. All management and staff members attended the lunch where varieties of fresh seafood were served. The said lunch was held for purpose of gathering together all staff members and management in fostering good working relationship.


 


SABAH INTERNATIONAL EXPO 2006

Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn. Bhd. participated at the recent Sabah International Trade (SIE) Expo held at Magellan Resort Kota Kinabalu from 9th to 13th August, 2006. The main objective of the SIE and Sabah International Business Conference (SIBC) was to serve as a constant platform to foster business relationships between entrepreneurs in the BIMP-EAGA region and the international community. They were also aimed at promoting Sabah as a regional centre for MICE. The Sabah State Government is continuing to give its fullest support to ensure the success of the SIE and SIBC and Sabah Energy Corporation is honoured to support these efforts.

BLOOD DRIVE:
The Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn. Bhd’s sports and recreational club held a 2nd blood donation drive as part of its annual activities, at its premises in Wisma Boon Siew, Jalan Tuaran in Kota Kinabalu on 12th July 2006.

 

Resource Development and Information Technology Minister, Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai and General Manager, Puan Margaret Fung, witnessed the blood donation drive.

The day-long event was part of the club’s effort to support the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) blood bank particularly, the Sabah Thalassaemia Society.

   

Among others the donors who did their bit for charity were the Sepangar Chemical Industry Sdn. Bhd., Institut Latihan Perindustrian, Kota Kinabalu Monfort Youth Training Centre, Fernandez & Co. and Sedco. At the end of the day, a total of 74 pints of blood were collected.

SEC ANNUAL LUNCH 2006

SEC had its 1st Annual Lunch for 2006 at an Indian restaurant located at the Kota Kinabalu Waterfront. The top management and other managers were joined by all the staff members at the said lunch. The annual lunches are held for purpose of good interaction amongst staff members and the management. It is also management’s way of saying “thank you” to all staff members for the hard work and other contributions in making SEC a profitable company. Management agreed to have two annual lunches in 2006, With this get-together event held twice a year, a harmonious and better working relationship amongst the staff will continue to be achieved in SEC. In addition to the above, every individual employees are entitled to a door gift. We would like to thank SEC management for the lunch and door gifts and are looking forward for the 2nd Annual Lunch.

ASB UPGRADES INDIA ONGC FACILITIES


 

SEC’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Asian Supply Base Sdn. Bhd. (ASB) recently entered into a three years term contract with Indian Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) in Mumbai, India to upgrade and modernize the existing Nhava Supply Base of ONGC to international standard.

The contract was signed by YB Edmund Chong Ket Wah, the Deputy Chairman of ASB and Dr. N. K. Mitra, a Director (Offshore) of ONGC on behalf of their respective parties on 8th February 2006. The contract was another initiative of ASB to create an international benchmark to enhance efficiencies of Supply Base Management in the oil and gas industries globally.

The upgrading and modernization services would include, among others, the development of a Supply Chain Management, Jetty Management and Supply Base Management Systems and processes that lead to the reduction of supply based turn around time. ONGC, a central public sector company, is India’s premier integrated oil and Natural Gas Corporation. ONGC contributes substantially to India’s oil and gas production, and ranked as best oil and Gas Company in Asia by “Global Finance”.

The Chairman of ASB, Tan Sri Datu Khalil bin Datu Haji Jamalul expressed his gratitude to ONGC for the confidence given to ASB to undertake Supply Base Management as encouraged by the government. He expressed his optimism that cooperation and collaboration between ASB and ONGC would continue in other areas including the green field Supply Base at Kakinada in Eastern India. He also look forward to future undertakings in areas that ASB can contribute particularly the provision of consultancy services for vessels and helipad developments.

Tan Sri Datu Khalil also extended his invitation to Mr. Subir Raha, Chairman/Managing Director of ONGC to visit ASB in Labuan F. T. Mr. Subir Raha in his reply praised both ASB and ONGC for their commitment to get the contract successfully negotiated. He further mentioned that the Nhava Supply Base (NSB) is the key unit in the ONGC’s offshore operation supply chain. ONGC knew over the years ASB has developed expertise in Jetty and Supply Base Management and their impressive turn around time will be beneficial to NSB’s endeavour to develop a Best-in-Class Supply Base in India.

The new Minister-In-Charge of SEC, YBHG Datuk Dr. Yee Moh Chai and his assistant, YB Puan Melanie Chia Chui Ket visited SEC’s office at Wisma Boon Siew, Inanam on the 14th April 2004.  YB Minister and entourage were welcomed by Top Management and staff.  A corporate briefing was given by the General Manager, Puan Margaret Fung.
